P&O clearly state their smoking policy in their new brochure- read it.
The biggest fear on board a ship at sea is FIRE, sadly their are many foolish passengers who discard cigarette buts anywhere. Even on open decks you see them flicking them into the sea, if smoking has to be allowed it should only be on an open deck, preferably a no smoking policy is best. Norma.
Cruise ships sailing out of the UK should abid by UK Maritime Law. Which should be NO SMOKING, and not the vague International Maritime Law Geared for the americans. If they want smoking let them sail off the USA.
In the Contract you will find that the cruise line is responsible for the health and welfare of all passengers and that it can make and change rules which are, in their opinion detrimental to the health and welfare of all passengers. This is probably one occasion when what they say is what will happen and given that it is their will passengers have no right to recompense following their judgement of a situation. Fires onboard ships are notorious killers and a serious danger and on that aspect alone they could make such changes and no one sailing could have any right or just grievance to counter this. They are totally in charge and although you may not like this or any other judgement on a ship what they say is law for the good of everyone so no contract is broken. You could equate it to a ruling which says that for now on no lighter fuel or butane gas may be brought on board any of our ships. You may not like it but it is a rule made for the safety of all and in that the cruise line’s will is sacrosanct and no contract is broken…….Nei.
Did read on P and O's website in "cruise connections" someone cancelled a Christmas cruise for that reason and they have been told their deposit will be refunded. So at least you would hopefully get that back.
Yes definitly if it was not on the booking form at time of booking or were not notified they should hve a ful refund plus some comensation for the inconvenienc.
Read your booking terms and conditions they normally say subject to change,your bank does it with your account and credit charges so i would say no your not,their is no guarantee that the itinerary you booked is the one you will get.
