I know how you feel! We are going on 9th August and although I've been with other cruise lines and really enjoyed it, never been with NCL, we are taking two of our young grandsons and got a good deal when we booked. I have also read not very good reviews and am now not so looking forward to it as I was. You won't be able to let me know either as you will be getting off as we get on!

I'm really worried too! Have been reading awful reviews. This will be our first cruise and we have saved a long time to go.We're also going on 9th August so see you there!

The most recent review I can see on cruise critic gives it 5+ stars. Maximum score. Get hubby to read that one! In fact the last 16 European itin reviews have all been 4-5* with the exception of one. I cannot see anything wrong with that.

We will be on the NCL Jade for a w/e cruise in 4 weeks time. If you post this question again, then I will be able to give you an un-biased opinion as to what the ship is like. We have cruised with NCL a few times and the ships are beautiful, the shows are high standard, the food are scrumptious, the staffs are polite and helpful, the kids' club is excellent...

Fallows - Answered a Question by channing (14 Jun 08 19:03)

We too are on that cruise as a family of four. This will be our 2nd cruise with NCL (jewell 2 years ago), last year we went in the Island Star. Although I don't like the sound of some of the latest reviews it was the same last year before we went on the Star, from the reviews I had read about the Star I thought it would be very down market after sailing NCL the previous year but we had a brilliant time. All I would say is go knowing that drinks are dear, excursions are expensive (we do our own thing)but know that the sights you are going to see will be amazing for both you and your children. I have two boys 11 and 13 and they loved the clubs on NCL but not on the Star. Just chill out and enjoy, despute the reviews we are still really looking forward to the cruise.

Illingworth - Answered a Question by channing (15 Jun 08 12:50)

We have just come back from 2 weeks on the jade,(first time cruisers) it was wonderful, clean good food, staff very friendly. The tours are expensive and i would advise just doing it yourself most ports are near train stations or tour bus routes and are a fraction of the price. Drinks are average priced. I would take bottled water on board to take to pool side as NCL is expensive you can keep going and getting free glassfuls from dinning room, but thats a pain. Entertainment was good. The perfume shop on board was better than the ports as the doller was such a good rate.youdo get 18% added to every bill. the rooms were wonderful clean. Dont worry you will have a wonderful time, remember some people will moan about anything. Have a fantastic time Ann .
