Barrett-Treen - Answered a Question by Coles (03 Aug 07 17:25)

2nd sittings are great if you don't have youngish kids as they get restless and tired after all that sun, sea and the old ruins on the day trips (thats just hubby and me) Ours are teenagers now so we all like 2nd sittings best, three girls need time to get dressed after the days outings. So young children 1st sitting, 2nd sitting older teenagers and adults. Hope that helps :) .

Depends what you intend to do during the day. I find that 1st sitting is too early if you've been on a trip...you have to rush to get ready whereas on 2nd sitting you can take your time getting ready the pop to a bar for pre-dinner drinks...much more civilised.

We prefer second sitting as you get some time on deck when it's quieter after the early sitting diners have gone to get ready and have their meal.

It depends what you like to do in the evenings! We always go FIRST sitting, as do most people. The meal starts at 6:30 p.m., we eat until about 8:30 p.m., and then go to the theatre, which starts at 9:00 p.m. This ends at about10:00 p.m., and then we go into a bar and have a dance or three!!! Fabulous evenings. You cannot do that if you opt for the second sitting. And one thing more, we always ask to be put on large tables of eight or ten people. You meet wonderful guests, and it is lovely to talk about your day when you meet up in the evening. Best Wishes, Coli.

We find second is best because if you go out for the day you have plenty of time to get ready, have a rest before dinner and there is usually a late show after your meal, thats if you like to stay up late.

My wife and I prefer 1st sitting as we can see the first show performance of the evening then still have the rest of the evening to enjoy the other shipboard entertainment we predominantly cruise with P&.
