Hi just turn up and board they will be letting people on before 12 but your cabin will not be available till later ,the windjammer will be serving food and drink and you can wander round most of the ship?
Even if they are not ready for you the facilities at Southampton are ok and you can wait seated with the knowledge that you are there and in time, if there is any hold-up on the way down you have time to spare.....Ida.
Two factors come into effect did the ship dock on time and how long did it take to clear the ohter passengers off the ship and have it ready for the new guests. Even if all goes well the time you have been given is probably correct, if you did arrive at 12 noon you may find you are simply hanging about in the 2 hrs. before they open up for boarding, at least you will possibly be nearer the front.
We were on this ship in June and were on board by 11.30am. The Windjammer was open for lunch and the ataterooms were ready by 1pm. Enjoy your cruise.
I have been on this ship twice now. The first time I abided by the 2 p.m. time and got stuck in traffic, then had to queue for ages to check in, it was a nightmare. The second time I arrived early, 10.30 a.m, no traffic, no queues, on ship by 11 a.m. and enjoyed a leisurely lunch. I would recommend getting there early and make the most of your cruise!
We have always arrived earlier than 2 pm, we find the best time is about 11.30-12.30 when it is quieter and they normally start boarding, but your cabin area will still be closed off for cleaning, but the cabins are normally accessible after 13.00 hrs. If you are on the sailingon 20th September be early as the Southampton Boat Show is on the same weekend, and the ship will be berthed adjacent to it, not far from the Hoiday Inn, so be early it could be manic driving to the dock that day, as the Oceana is also sailing the same afternoon .
My friend is on her this week and she was on board by noon.
