I have done this cruise no visa is required we did cruise and stay and no one asked about a visa on the ship or hotel.
We did this cruise in Nov 2007 and we didn't need a visa for Egypt, nor Jordan, when we visited the Lost city of Petr.
No visas needed. And as long as you realise that this cruise is the best way to visit Petra, the Pyramids and Valley of the Kings without risking your health and you are prepared to tolerate long bus journies (especially from Safaga to Luxor) then you will have a fabulous time. Please understand that this cruise is NOT for those who want to visit palm fringed beaches - the ports are all industrial container type places - and you will also have 2 days at sea. However Thomson's do a fantastic job and I will never forget the sights and sounds of this part of the world. Enjoy!
It is a block visa so long as you are on a ships trip. You will need a visa if you are go on your own. However the trips are very long with a Hotel lunch but well worth it even for me a real "anti history" person ( it had been my husbands dream to visit them and they were awesom.
